Children in today’s America deserve to realize a debt free adulthood straight out of high school. And should be rewarded for their hard work in high school with another chance at a free degree. We have been sending the wrong message by not providing our children with free education. We begin a train of thought that is tough to counteract. How do we justify providing 12 years of schooling but then make someone pay for the following 4 years? Requiring students to pay for a college education leaves an open opportunity for the military industrial complex to offer a degree in exchange for participation in war. And with low-income areas being recruited the most, it’s easy to see the formula being used to supply overseas conflict. Without the reward of a degree, it’s reasonable to assume that the volunteer rate for the military would fall as well.
With over 900 bases under United States operation, we can expect a healthy decline in our oppressive presence around the globe. Military states are fascist states. The United States government has a vested interest in our children joining the military. The quagmire in the Middle East is more complicated, while the government passes laws concerning a draft. Women can now be drafted anywhere in the United States. For wars that propagate our destructive culture around the globe.
Engaging ourselves in the conversation is a small first step in counteracting ways the established system takes advantage of our daily lives. Education should be a rewarding process, not an incentive given to young adults in exchange for destroying other countries. We are robbing our own culture in exchange for resource dominance. This must change. We have much work to do. Your participation is required.
